ABC
To ensure smooth operation within the warehouse, it's a good idea to store the most frequently shipped products in easily accessible locations. These can be places in a warehouse zone that are closest to the packing tables, or in a smaller warehouse, all locations on ground floor level and where no pallet is required.
By distinguishing between the most frequently shipped products, it becomes easier to find them and pack them. This can significantly shorten the time needed for picking, especially during busy periods.
To make this distinction, you can categorize the products into three groups:
- A: The 5% most frequently shipped products
- B: The next group of 15% of the products that are shipped the most
- C: The remaining 80% of the products
On locations
The same categorization can also be applied in Webship Online to the locations within the warehouse. So each location can receive an A, B or C label, allowing goods delivered to be stored immediately on a location with the correct ABC label.
?> Tip Webship Online will automatically suggest locations that match the current ABC label of a product during the (re)location of products within the warehouse.
On products
Webship Online will review all products weekly and recalculate new ABC labels based on how often each product is shipped.
On the product card, you can always see the current ABC label and the last calculated ABC label for each week.
This information can help prepare the warehouse for potential busy periods when certain products are more popular. For example, products linked to holidays will be shipped in larger quantities several weeks ahead of time compared to the rest of the year.
